The CubCopter kit is the first of its kind. A quadcopter designed and built entirely with 4130 alloy steel. Extremely strong and durable for its weight. Unlike other materials, steel bends before it brakes. Meaning if you really wreck it hard, a simple bench vise and some elbow grease can straighten it out. I have crashed many of the prototypes, mostly because I am a terrible drone pilot, and have never bent or broken anything besides props.
Motor mounts: 19mm-36mm pattern accommodates most motors on the market
(Motor mounts pictured on the chrome colored frame are the old design. The CAD drawing displays what is shipped with the kit).
Airframe weight: approximately 1.5lbs (steel and hardware)
see pictures for measurements.
The kit includes the complete bare steel kit and hardware to assemble the frame.
-Powder coating with your choice of color. The color in the pictures is Extreme Chrome. We also offer translucent red, metallic red, bright yellow, and flat black. If you want a different color, contact us through email and we will make sure to get the color you like on your frame.
-Mounting plate kit which includes the three carbon fiber plates as pictured, two feet of aluminum 3003-0 TUBE and hardware to mount as pictured. Note: aluminum tube spacers are provided in two 12" lengths. They are not cut to size. This is in case the 1" spacing on my builds are different from your needs. A tubing cutter or hacksaw will be needed for the build. Two feet should be plenty for any build with leftovers but we can provide more if needed.
These are frame kits for DIY drone builders or anyone looking to add a steel frame to their current drone components. Kits do not include any electronics. They have been flight tested and will include a parts list of what I used to configure a flying drone.
Kits are fabricated and built on order. Please allow 2-5 days for the kit to be built depending on the total number of orders.
